Skov Woodcarving
I produce ornamental carving for furniture and architectural details, as well as stand-alone carvings in almost any style and almost any wood species. I can provide complete finished pieces, or carving services for the cabinetmaker or millwork shop, which might involve sending me a partially or fully dimensioned and detailed part which I carve and send back.
Restoration and replication work is a specialty; I can match design, tools used, and carving style to rebuild and blend in a repair, as well as create accurate reproductions of carvings and carved furniture. Included in the images below are a Chippendale chair (one of four to match a set), a frame for a Copley portrait originally carved in 1772 by John Welch, a mid-nineteenth century rustic Italian mirror frame repair, the House Speaker's podium in the Maine State House, and a John Townsend tall case clock.
